Who is a Prosthodontist?
A prosthodontist is a dentist who specializes in the aesthetic restoration and replacement of teeth. Prosthodontists receive three years of additional training after dental school, and are recognized in Canada through specialty examination with the Royal College of Dentists of Canada.
A Prosthodontist is the skilled Dental architect who understands your treatment needs, and can restore optimum function and appearance to your smile.
You will want to choose a prosthodontist if you have worn or damaged teeth; are unsatisfied with the appearance and function of your teeth; are missing one or more teeth; are interested in dental implants; you wear dentures or removable partial dentures; or you want to optimize the aesthetics of your smile.
Prosthodontics is one of nine Dental specialties recognized in Canada.
Prosthodontics is concerned with the diagnosis, restoration and maintenance of oral function, comfort, appearance and health by the restoration of natural teeth and/ or replacement of missing teeth and tissues with artificial substitutes.
