What is a Dental Crown?
Dental crowns (or ‘caps’) are artificial replacements that restore missing tooth structures by surrounding part or all of the remaining tooth structures with a restorative material such as cast metal, porcelain, or a combination of the two. Essentially, a crown completely covers or caps a weak or damaged tooth or dental implant, in order to protect or cover it. It is typically bonded to the tooth by dental cement and looks and acts as a natural tooth.
